. I first met Patsy when Dot and Frank got married in
1956. Frank was fishing that summer so I went to Nantucket with them and
Patsy got me a job at the Downeyflake, where she also worked. I also
worked with one of Frank's cousins, I think Jennette. I met Judy
Brownell whose father was the cook on the Mary Tapper and she and I went to
Framingham State together. I think I was the only none Nantucket
person to work at the Downeyflake I worked there for three summers. Patsy
had met Gunner who worked for Northeast Airlines. It was a thriving
businees at that time with direct flights from New York. In the summertime
Gunner would be working at the airport and Patsy would waitress. In 1962
she got me a job at Cap'n Tobys where I worked as the cashier from
6pm-9pm. The bartender, John Kimmet, didn't want to be bothered with
the bills from the restaurant so they hired me. I lived with Patsy and
Gunner for a week and them moved in with Toppy and Beverly on Pleasant
Street. I think I paid them $15.00 a week for the room. Russell
was working on the restoration of the Jarod Coffin House and the crew had been
there since May. Cap'n Tobys was their pub of choice. Russell
asked me out, but Patsy said I couldn't go out with him until she checked him
out. Mary and Patricia would come down for weekends and hung out with
Patsy and Gunner. They all checked Russell out. I think I chose
well. Patsy was a beautiful young woman and full of fun. Frank and
she had a special bond when they were young. I always enjoyed her company
and we laughed a lot. She will be missed.
